Dr. Brian Nussbaum
Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Nussbaum is a Florida licensed clinical psychologist. He is a Board Certified Professional Counselor and a Diplomate of the American Psychotherapy Association. He also holds the distinguished privilege of being a Diplomate of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, a Diplomate of the National Center for Crisis Management, as well as being a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress. He received his Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida in 1998. He then completed both his Masters degree (2000) and his Doctoral degree (2002) in Clinical Psychology at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at the Bay Pines Veteran's Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL and his post-doctoral training at the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, FL. He served as Chief of the residential rehabilitation program at the Orlando VA Healthcare Center and was responsible for expanding that program from 30 beds to 60 beds. During his time in Orlando he was appointed adjunct professor of psychology at Valencia Community College. He returned to Tampa in 2005 to accept a full-time position in the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Clinic at the James A. Haley VA treating combat veterans. In 2008 he began working in a satellite clinic of the hospital, located in Zephyrhills, where he continues to treat combat veterans with PTSD. In addition to serving those from all walks of life, Dr. Nussbaum offers comprehensive services to professionals, who he views as a highly underserved group. In addition to general psychological services, he is one of the few psychologists in the area who provide office-based treatment for professionals dealing with addictions, depression, and other difficulties.

Dr. Nussbaum is also available for supervision of post-doctoral psychologists seeking licensure.

Dr. Lea Martinell-Smith
Psychology Resident



Dr. Lea Martinell-Smith is a Psychology Resident. She has extensive training and experience with adults, adolescents, and children. She specializes in helping individuals and couples increase their ability to cope with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. She has additional training and experience working with law enforcement and their families, as well as in the utilization of play therapy.

Dr. Heidi King
Psychology Resident


 

Dr. Heidi King completed her doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at the University of South Florida, and she completed her clinical pre-doctoral internship at the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, FL. She obtained both a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Florida. She completed her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. King has thirteen years of diverse and extensive experience in the field. In treating individual clients, she has expertise in helping people with depression, anxiety, phobias, family-related issues, sexual trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She also facilitates groups addressing weight management, binge eating, cardiac health, sexual trauma, and improving interpersonal relationships. Dr. King specializes in psychological assessments, such as intelligence (IQ) testing, learning disabilities (LD), and neuropsychological testing.
